Remember that the LORD rescued you from the burning furnace of Egypt to become his own people and special possession; that is what you are today.

Remember; it is a word the LORD often exhorts us to exercise.
From Genesis, right on through to Revelation, over and over again, HE reminds us to remember. Remember where you came from, and from or out of what He has delivered you. To what and how. HE is a great and awesome GOD; faithful, loving, mighty awesome, dreadful and good.
How great is the love of God, that we should be called children of God.
It is easy to think that God has saved us for our benefit and blessing, indeed His mercies toward us are indeed a benefit and blessing; however His motive is much deeper and more glorious than our pleasure, prosperity: MITZVAH....
If we could be only get our eyes off of ourselves; our momentary and trivial situations, and allow our gaze to be utterly fixed and fastened upon HIM. Oh the joy unspeakable we can know, even here and now, when our hearts, minds, souls and strengths are captivated by the Savior. We can feast on Him as we devour His wonderful word. We can love Him ever deeper as we worship Him in the beauty of His holiness. I long for Him, as one who wanders in a dry and thirsty land, where there is no water. Jesus Christ is the living water, springing up unto everlasting life. HE satisifys in such a way, that one never thirsts again in the same way. Oh taste and see, the LORD is good. Seek His face, cry out to Him, for all that HE longs to lavish upon you.
"Remember that the LORD rescued you from the burning furnace of Egypt to become his own people and special possession; that is what you are today."

"the SON of GOD who loved me and gave Himself for me"

Today is Good Friday, 2006: The day we remember the sacrificial death of Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus, the Christ, Messiah, Savior, Redeemer; the God-man. GOD come in the flesh to purposely lay down His sinless life to pay the penalty for all of humanity. God gave each of us free-will, the great gift of freedom to respond to HIS love gift, to receive Him by faith as personal Savior, God and King... or to reject Him and all His claims of divinity, sovereignty; and by Him everlasting life.

"There is no other name, under heaven, given among men, by which we must be saved."

"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

Truly this is Good Friday.. for it is good news, that we can be forgiven, if we will but choose, this Jesus, whom willingly bore the weight, shame and judgement of all of our sins, there on Calvary 2 millienia ago. Receive Him, by faith and rejoice in His overcoming sacrifice... for He once and for all defeated death and rose bodily from the dead... "oh death, where is your victory? Oh death, where is your sting."
It is Friday, but Sunday's a-comin!
