Change

There has been a lot of talk about change from both candidates over the last several months. The word it's self has become the mantra of, not only the Obama campaign, but the DNC as a whole. Come January 20, 2009 there will be a definite changing of the guard in Washington, which clearly makes a lot of people quite happy. What that change will actually mean for our country is yet to be seen.

As a Christian I do think that our Nation is in need of change, but I'm not convinced that politics or politicians are going to bring about the changes that are needed. So as I thought on the idea and prospect of change I was reminded of Philippians 3...

For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Philippians 3:20-21

Highly Recommended

This last weekend our 2008 presidential candidates were given the opportunity to speak at Rick Warren's church in Orange County... This interview style debate was very well done and gives voters a great chance to see the differences between McCain and Obama.

If you have an hour I highly recommended that you watch this.

Camp

I had the blessed privilege to go to summer camp with our High School Youth this last week... it's been a long time since I was at camp. In fact, as we were driving up on Wednesday I realized that the last time I went to camp as a counselor/pastor was 6 years ago in 2002 - it really is amazing how fast time goes by!

Spending 4 days with 400+ teens is... interesting! Actually it was a great time, and amazingly I slept very well.

One of the things that really stood out to me this last week was the passion that the youth have in worship. Sure there is always a group that just get caught up in the 'concert' like setting of worship at camp, but at the same time I really was blessed by what appeared to be genuine passion for God in worship.

On another note ~ tonight we finished the Old Testament in our line upon line study at CCESCO. I started teaching a book a week through the bible exactly a year ago tonight (Aug. 11, 2007) and tonight we did Malachi. I was really encouraged as I read through and studied Malachi this week, if you get a chance check it out at lineuponline.com.
